About Me
Hi! I'm Kiara—a mom of two incredible little girls, a travel enthusiast, and a firm believer that motherhood was never meant to be done alone. Somewhere along the way, I stopped counting countries, but I'm pretty sure my next destination will be my 40th. Travel has always been one of my greatest passions, but becoming a mother completely transformed why I travel.
My husband recently became a U.S. diplomat, and we're preparing for our second overseas assignment in Mexico after spending three unforgettable years living in Brazil. What I expected to be an exciting international adventure quickly became something much deeper—it became home. Living abroad transformed the way I think about parenting, community, and the world my daughters are growing up in. I'm raising bilingual girls with a global perspective, and watching them confidently embrace new languages, cultures, and friendships inspired me to create Mamas & Minis Abroad.
As a Black mother, one of my greatest joys is seeing little Black and Brown girls with well-loved passports, experiencing cultures that reflect both their heritage and the incredible diversity of our world. Representation matters, and I want every child to know they belong anywhere they dream of going. Outside of travel, I've truly never met a stranger. (I literally met my best friend in the grocery store while living in Brazil!) I love checking on my people, laughing until my stomach hurts, and ending a busy week with a good spa day. I'm also a proud HBCU graduate married to another HBCU graduate, and every day my husband and I remind our daughters that they are "smart, beautiful, and can be anything they want to be."
My hope is that Mamas & Minis Abroad becomes an extension of that message—for my girls, for yours, and for generations to come.
